FLAXWOOD
High quality handcraft and workmanship
The heart of the Flaxwood process. Flaxwood Guitars are manufactured and assembled mostly by hand, with excruciating attention paid to every last detail. The luthiers and staff working at Flaxwood are musicians themselves who take great pride in their work and spare no effort to make good on the high standards we have set for our instruments.
Respecting tradition and embracing modern technology
From the outset, it was a question of principle for us that the long history of the guitar was something to be respected and studied carefully. It is impossible to reinvent tradition; however, it is possible to learn from and improve upon tradition to create something new. Flaxwood Guitars have combined what we feel are the best characteristics of known guitar-building materials, and created an innovative new tonewood that is unique to Flaxwood Guitars alone. In keeping with this pioneering spirit, the further study and development of modern technology will always be an integral part of designing new Flaxwood Guitars.
![]() A versatile axe for the all-around player, named after Flaxwood master luthier Veijo Rautia. Equipped with Seymour Duncan Custom 5 and Jazz humbuckers, the Flaxwood Rautia delivers, be your calling rock, blues or jazz.
The Flaxwood Äijä (äijä = The Man) is essentially a Vasara, a high-gain rock guitar equipped with EMG active electronics, but with an entry level price and our unique Hiili sandblasted black finish. With this axe in hand, there is no doubt who the real äijä is in the band.
A new classic is born.An instrument of class, the Flaxwood Liekki (liekki = flame) neatly embodies the entire Flaxwood philosophy: vintage elegance with modern design. Featuring Seymour Duncan SP90 Vintage Soapbar pickups and the ultra-stable Schaller LP Tremolo, the Liekki sets a new standard for superb playability and P90 tone.
Vintage single-coil twang, Flaxwood-style.Soundwise the most Strat-like of our entire line, the Flaxwood Laine (laine = wave) is a small sensation in the making. Combining Seymour Duncan lipstick pickups with the ultra-stable Schaller LP Tremolo, the laine delivers chiming, bell-like cleans and beautiful overdriven tones ideally suited to everything from country and blues to funk and modern r'n'b. Equipped with a blender pot which gradually blends the neck pickup signal with that of the bridge pickup.
A gainful experience.Fat power chords, screaming harmonics, singing sustain, and a commanding appearance - the Flaxwood Vasara (vasara = hammer) is a true rocker's dream. Features a Gotoh Tune-o-matic Bridge and active electronics by EMG. Ideal for heavier rock and metal.
Humbucker muscle and single coil clarity. To bring you the best of two worlds, the Flaxwood Voima (voima = strength, vigour, fortitude, force) features two humbuckers and one single coil pickup, all Seymour Duncan. Like the Laine, the Voima also comes equipped with a blender pot, which gradually blends the neck pickup signal with that of the bridge pickup, giving you a virtually limitless sonic palette from which to find your sound.
